1891 Census: Lewis is living with his younger brother Alfred.
1907: On his October, 1907, Marriage certificate he describes himself as a 45 year-old Widower, Grocer, residing at Highlands Avenue, Vange.
1908: At the birth of Charles Lewis, Lewis Richard Western is a Laundry Agent living with his wife Mary Isabel at Highlands Avenue, Vange, Essex.
1913: At the birth of Margaret Jean, Lewis Richard Western is a "Commercial Traveller, Hardware Trade" living with his wife Mary Isabel at Highlands Avenue, Vange, Essex.
John Henry Western [b 1906 d 1981] writes in a 1978 letter:
"Louis [sic] Western was well known to us - in fact my father [Henry Toogood Western] bought our Chase Side (Cockfosters) house from him when we moved there from Worthing in 1920. He was NOT the miniature painter who was visited by Cousin Lily [Elizabeth Ann Crosse]".
