Will Transcript

In the name of God, Amen. I, Lewis Mowery, Sr. of the county of Augusta and the Commonwealth of Virginia, do make, ordain and ?????? this instrument to be my last will and testament. Revoking all others. I promise all my debts, of which there is but few, and none of magnitude, are to be punctually and speedily paid and the legacies hereinafter bequeathed, are to be discharged as soon as circumstances will permit and in the manner directed..
Item 1st to my beloved daughter Susannah Mowry who is yet single, I leave to her, her riding mare, saddle and bridle, two feather beds and furniture table and burow (bureau??) together with such household furniture as she has acquired by her industry, two cows with their increase and one-half my house and lot No. 37 in Middlebrook..
Iten 2nd to my beloved daughter Hannah Mowry who is yet single I leave to her, her riding horse, saddle and bridle two feather beds and furniture table and burow together with such household furniture as she has acquired by her industry. Two cows with their increase together with such household and kitchen furniture as any of my daughters got at their marriage and ine-half my house and lot NO. 37 in Middlebrook..
Item 3rd The remainder of my estate which will devise ????? from the sale of of my land to my son Lewis together with all my personal Estate, slaves and debts of every kind that may be justly due me I leave and bequeath to be equally divided among all my children including Susannah and Hannah except my Daughter Polly Dickison to whom I leave one dollar but to her three children she had by John Cline Viz, Lewis Cline, George Cline and Eliz Cline, a childs part to be equally divided amongst them and as I have sold the lands on which I now live to my son Lewis Mowry at five dollars per acre ?? ??? ???? will more appear by and article of agreement entered into with him showing the price and payment..
Lastly I constitute my son Abraham Mowry and George Keller Executors of this will and testament and also to convey and make a deed in fee simple to Lewis Mowry his heirs for the lands I have sold him and entitled ??? with him for in due time he giving bonds for the balance of the price of the land agreeable to the conditions of said sale. In witness of all and of Each of the things herein contained I have set my hand and seal this twelfth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixteen..

At a Court Continued and held for the County of Augusta on Tuesday, August the 28th, 1824. This last will and testament of Lewis Mowry, dec'd, was presented in Court and being proved by the oath of William Fishburn a witness thereto and it being further proved by the oath of Erasmus Stribling that the signature of Joseph Bell another subscribing witness thereto is in the handwriting of the said Joseph Bell and that he is dead, the same is ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Abraham Mowry and George Keller the Executors therein named who made oath thereto and together with John Poage and Jacob Lease their securities entered into and acknowledge bond in the penalty of $7,000 conditioned as the law requires, which bond is ordered to be recorded, certificate of probate is granted them in due form.
