Ellis, Leonard - born in Maryland; reared by brother William in Berkeley County, Virginia; entered service 1776 in Martinsburg, Virginia, in Pennsylvania regiment; entered service 1777 in Virginia regiment; moved in 1791 to Fayette County, Kentucky for 7 years, thence to Woodford County, Kentucky, for 12-13 years, thence to Henry County, Kentucky where granted Pension in 1832; died there 8/22/1833; married Fall of 1781 to Jane Alloman/Allemong (Marriage Bond 11/14/1781), Berkeley County, Virginia, who then resided on boundary line between Berkeley County, Virginia & Frederick County, Virginia; widow granted Pension age 75-76 in Woodford County, Kentucky 1838 while residing with daughter mentioned but not named abt. age 40; widow resided there in 1843, & died 6/3/1846; daughter Frances Gaines resided there in 1855; affidavit in 1833 by Elizabeth, wife of Elisha Bishop, Henry County, Kentucky, that she was daughter of soldier's brother [s/b soldier's uncle] William & then age 64; her husband Elisha made affidavit in 1833 that he married into family abt. 47 years before; other soldier's children mentioned but not named.
