Obituary: Clara Van Der Wal was born on February 20, 1906, in the Netherlands, to Frederick and Agnes (Herrema) Zeinstra. In 1912 Clara came to the United States, with her family, to Colton, S.D. She was united in marriage to Dick Van Der Wal on January 16, 1925 at Holland, Minn. They farmed in the Pipestone and Holland area and upon retiring moved to Ihlen, Minn. Dick passed away in 1972 and later Clara moved into the Storybrook Apts. in Pipestone, She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church and the Dorcas Ladies Aid. Her death came on Wednesday, October 24, 1984, at the Pipestone Medical Center at the age of 78. Clara is survived by her ten children: Martin of Arvada, Colorado, Fred of Pipestone, Minn., Dorothy, Mrs Arnold Pap of Riverside, Calif., Alice, Mrs. Darvin Burmeister of Jasper, Minn., Della, Mrs. Don Stromberg, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Betty, Mrs. Bernie Green, Golden, Colorado, Terry, Mrs. Mel Lorenzen of Hillsboro, North Dakota, Richard of Nebraska City, Nebr., Clifford of Lakewood, California, and Jane Richfield, Minn., a sister, Winnie, Mrs. Lane Rodenburgh of Leota, Minn.; 31 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, two sons, a daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
