"How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the JOY we have in the presence of our God because of you?" ?1 Thessalonians 3:9
Joy Marlene Yates Webber, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2011 in Abilene, TX. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 17th at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church Anson, followed by the burial at Eastland Memorial Cemetery in Eastland, TX.
Joy was born April 24, 1933 in Harlingen, Texas, to Hugh Howard Yates and Della Burchfield Yates. After her mother's death to pneumonia, Joy was raised by "Nannie and Unkie" Nina & Leland Lockhart in Olden, TX.
She spent a lifetime striving to live like Jesus and was a devoted Christian woman, wife, mother, and friend. She was married first to Marcell Daniel, then to James Lewis, but longest to Jack Webber. She raised children for almost 62 years….a vocation she felt created to do. She was a loving mother to her 5 children and then a blessed guardian to three grandchildren. Through the heartbreak of burying her husband and several children, she leaned heavily on Jesus and taught all who witnessed that grace and strength can only be derived from turning to God daily for His guidance and support. Joy loved reading and sewing, and she was an amazing family historian who loved geneology, pictures, and stories. She and Jack loved playing games (especially dominoes) with family and friends and spent weekends at their lake house at Brownwood Lake making memories with those she loved.
Joy is survived by two brothers Bob Yates of Lubbock and Bill Yates of Houston, and Jerry Yates, her daughter Brenda Harrison of Burnet, son, Jason Lewis of Stamford, son James Lewis of Eastland, and daughter Desiree Lewis of Anson. She has 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Joy is proceeded in death by her husband Jack Webber, son Greg Daniel, son Billy Daniel, son Dwight Lewis, step-son Henry Webber, and step-daughter Linda Terry. Although she will be missed by those here to carry on her legacy, she has had a remarkable, long-awaited reunion with her husband, her children who have passed before her, and most importantly with her Savior.
    Family visitation will be Thursday, June 16, 2011 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Adams-Graham Funeral Home, 732 Ave I – Anson, Texas.
