After his birth and baptism, there is no record of Joshua at Rhinebeck. A Joshua Ring married Sarah Ann Mix at LaPorte, Indiana, 25 Aug 1843. This Joshua was born in New York about 1814 and died at Hennepin County, Minnesota, 30 Oct 1891. In 1850, Joshua Ring of LaPorte was a blacksmith, possibly a link to George J. Ring. Sarah Ann Mix was born in 1822 at Ripley Township, Chautauqua, New York, daughter of Stephen Mix and Patience Risdon. She died 8 Feb 1899 in Hennepin County, Minnesota.
