According to H. D. Baskerville, Dr. Joshua Homes was appenticed to David Davis, apothecary, of Britain St., Dublin, in 1770. He commenced business in Pill Lane, 1778; removed to Capel St. 1790, and from Capel St to 134 Dorset St. in 1816, where he lived until his death in 1836. He contributed to the foundation of an Apothecaries Hall for Ireland in 1791, nd was a director of it until 1826. He married 1) in 1781, Margaret Knox of Urney, Co. Tyrone, who died in May 1796 without issue; and 2) in 1799, Dorcas Davenport of Coleraine, by whom he had his children Dorcas Mary and Charles Davenport. References
