Revolutionary War Pension Information

Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 6, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :

Willy, Joseph - entered service 1780 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, where he resided, in Virginia company, & served at Battle of Cowpens; died 7/7/1822; married 7/30/1791 to Mary McCampbell, Rockbridge County, Virginia, by Reverend William Graham; widow applied for Pension age 81 in Darke County, Ohio, 1851 resided in Harrison Township, & Pension Application rejected; John Sprowl made affidavit there then that he knew soldier & wife in Rockbridge County, Virginia, when they had children together in the same neighborhood, also soldier & wife moved abt. 1814 to Ohio; soldier's surname also spelled Wiley. F-R11561, R2603.
