In the year 1860 February fourth in the evening half past nine o'clock was born at Stühlingen and February twelfth in the afternoon at three o'clock in the parish church at Stühlingen christened by the undersigned pastor; ADOLPH, legitimate son of Joseph Würth citizen and carpenter at Stühlingen and of the Agatha Kunzelmann, both of Catholic confession. Godfather and Godmother are: Joseph Neuburger, citizen and cooper at Stühlingen and Maria Anna Buche born Hartenstein from Mauchen.
Witnesses are: The above mentioned godfather Joseph Neuburger and Johann Portulazi citizen and sacristan at Stühlingen. Signed and dated T. Rautter, pastor

    Dear Mr. Hogue,

I thank you very much for your kind letter and the enclosed bank money order, which I cashed recently.

In the meantime I visited two times the city hall and the parish of Stühlingen. The results of my search are laid down on the enclosed ancestor chart No. 2. I could also get three copies out of the parish registers, which are certified by the pastor: the record on the christening of your great-grandfather Adolf Würth and the records on wedding and death of your eldest direct ancestor Johann Georg Würth, who was senator (town councilor) and who married as a widower the widow Marie Anna Köhlerin from Eberfingen. I did not find the birth-record of him. But by the mention of his age in the burial register you can calculate the year of his birth. Unfortunately the last cipher of this number is grown pale and one can read 70 as well as 79. So he was born 1762 or 1693. I think that 1693 will be right, though thus he was a very old father of his six children. – I searched too for living relatives of you, but the result is negative because all brothers and step-brothers as well as all sisters and stepsisters of Adolf Würth leaved Stühlingen or died before they were able to marry. But twenty families with the name Würth are still listed of in the telephone directory.
By the way Stühlingen is a nice and lovely country town with a beautiful city hall, a monastery of Capuchin monks and a castle, where the prince’s heir of Fürstenberg is residing. By the surface mail, I shall send you also three picture post-cards of Stühlingen, a supplement of our daily paper on the occasion of the two hundred years-jubilee of the city band and an old schoo-map of my children on which you will find all the pieces of the origin of your ancestor.
Hoping to have fulfilled my work to your satisfaction
    Sincerely, H. Joesth
