TRUMBULL, Joseph, (brother of Jonathan Trumbull, Jr.), a Delegate from Connecticut; born in Lebanon, Conn., March 11, 1737; was graduated from Harvard College in 1756; elected to the Continental Congress in 1774, but did not attend; served in the Continental Army as commissary general with the rank of colonel from July 19, 1775, to August 2, 1777; was commissioner of the board of war from 1777 until his resignation in April 1778 on account of ill health; died in Lebanon, Conn., July 23, 1778; interment in the East Cemetery.
