Will Abstract

Will of Joseph Skidmore of the County of Pendleton State of Virginia
First I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my dearly beloved wife the waring apparel, her bed, her spinning wheel and all my household furnitur likewise my dwelling house and the two sorrell house and a Cow and my son James is to find her in sufficient meat and Drink [during] her lifetime.
Secondly I give unto my son James him his heirs or assigns forever my plantation that I live on and also another tract joining the same on the south East side by his maintaining his mother as aforesaid and I also give him his heirs the Plains Collars and traces augues, handsaw, drawing knife, foot ads, bread a_ by his paying each of his sisters Ten pounds that is to say the first payment is to be maid [sic} to his oldest sister Caty Fisher twelve months after his mothers decease and then yearly Ten pounds til he has paid __ his sisters of their legle heirs but the oldest still to be paid off first.
Thirdly, by Executor is to sell all my lands in the beaffalow heirs and out of the monty arising thereof each of my Daughters or their heirs is to have Ten pounds and the remainder of the money is to be Equal divided between my two sons Samuel & Joseph Skidmore or their heirs forthly out of the rest of my movable Estate.
I give unto my Daughter Barbara and Sara each a bow and to my Grand Daughter Mima a bow and a bed.
Lastly out of the remainder of my movable all my lawful Debts is to be paid the the remainder my Daughters is to divided it between them.
Lastly I do hereby constitute my son James Skidmore my Executor of this my last will and testament.
In Witness whereof I have hear unto set my hand and seal this 20th day of October 1806.

At a Court held for Pendleton County the 6th day of February 1810.
This last will and testament of Joseph Skidmore dec'd was proved by the oaths of Jacob Coonrad and Ulrick Coonrad two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and at a Court held for the said County the 6th day of March 1810 came James Skidmore Executor therein named who made oath thereto according to law certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form giving security whereupon he with security entered into and acknowledged bond Conditioned as the law Directs.
