    Will of "Joseph Roote of Northampton", dated 23 Feb 1709/10, witnesses attested to 3 May 1711, proved 12 Dec 1711, names "wife which I now have she & I agreed before Marriage that as to her Estate of right her own she had by her first Husband David Burt deceased she was to have it all Returned to her"; son Hope Roote; son Hezekiah Roote; son Thomas Roote now of Lebanon; Children of my son John deceased; son Joseph Roote deccesed his son Joseph Roote surviving; daughter Hannah Wife to John Hutcheson of Lebanon; daughter Sarah Wife to Sam'll Hutchison of Lebanon. Sons Hope and Hezekiah to be executors.
    12 Dec 1711: Whereas the will omitted the right of dower of s'd Relict of Joseph Root viz Mary Root, and by agreement she was to have 10 acres of medow land during her lifetime. Ordered that executors set out to her 10 acres or else she to have full right of dower.
