On 5 Mar 1660/1, the Plymouth court found John Hawes not guilty of "takeing away the life of Josephth Rogers of Eastham by giveing him a most deadly fall, on the 25 of December 1660 in the towne of Eastham, whereof he ... about 48 hours died."[1]
