    "161. Joseph Phelps, b. Windsor, Ct., 16 Mar., 1692, … Mr. Phelps settled in Hebron, Ct., and d. 17 Oct., 1761, aged 69 years. His father was one of the largest real estate owners in Hebron. 'May, 1713, upon the petition of Joseph Phelps, of Windsor, requesting some allowance for several things lost by his son Joseph Phelps, a soldier improved in a scout under the command of Lieut. Crocker, in his escape from the Indian enemy: this Assembly grant to the petitioner the sum of thirty shillings to be paid him out of the Colony Treasury.'—(Col. Rec, Vol. 5.)"
