    Also some real estate at Deerfield, in the County of Hampshire and Province of Massachusetts Bay, £100. Taken 1 April, 1746, by Elijah Williams, Benjamin Mun and John Catlin. Will dated 9 July, 1743.
    I, Joseph Gillet of Hartford, do make this my last will and testament: I give to Elizabeth, my wife, all that estate that she brought with her when she became my wife, and one cow, to be at her dispose forever. Further, I give to my wife, during the time she remains my widow, the free use of 1-2 of the house I now live in, and also the use of 5 acres of land in my west division lott on the east side of the highway, and the use of half of my land on the west side of the highway, and the use of an iron pott and brass kettle, during sd. term that she remains my widow. I give to my son Joseph Gillet the dwelling house he now lives in and all that part of my west division lott that lyes on the east side of the highway, and also the one moiety or half of my sd. lott on the west side of sd. highway, being the north side, to be so laid out as not to interfere on my tan houses and fats, which I reserve for the heirs of my son Jonathan decd., he doing the duties hereafter enjoyned him to do. And provided my sd. son should die before me, or survive me and not make a will, then what I have hereby given to him I do hereby give and bequeath to his two sons, Stephen Gillet and Asa Gillet, they doing the duties hereafter enjoyned to my son Joseph Gillet to do. I give to my beloved grandchildren, the children of my son Jonathan Gillet decd., viz: Jonathan Gillet, Mehetabel Gillet and Mary Gillet, the house I now live in, my tan yard and tan houses, and 20 acres of land joining to sd. house and tan yard, to be divided as followeth: my grandson Jonathan to have the 1-2, and the other half to be divided equally to my sd. granddaughters. I give to my grandson Jonathan Gillet the remaining part of my land in the lott I now live on that is not before disposed of, he paying, when he arrives at the age of 22 years, the following legacies, viz., to my daughter Sarah Goodwin £10, and to the heirs of my daughter Abigail Smith deceased £10., and to my daughter Dorothy Bewell £10. Further, my will is that my son Matthew Gillet shall take the whole care to improve what is above given to my grandchildren, Jonathan Gillet and Mary and Mehetabell Gillet, for their best advantage until they arrive to lawfull age to receive the same, he being paid out of the income for his care and trouble. I give to my beloved son Matthew Gillet, over and above what I have done by deed of gift, my lott of land in New Hartford lately purchased of Eliakim Merrell, containing 56 3-4 acres, and also a yoke of cattle that he has now in his hands or keeping of mine, and also my cane and my long hunting gunn (not to be disposed of out of my line of heirs), all which I give to him, he paying to my granddafter Rhoda Andrews £10 old tenor when she arrives to the age of 18 years or marry. I give to my beloved daughters Elizabeth Marsh, Mary Andrews, Esther Bancroft, Hannah Burr, Sarah Goodwin, the heirs of Abigail Smith decd., and Dorothy Bewell, all my moveable estate after my debts are paid, to be equally divided amongst them, the heirs of my daughter Abigail Smith to have but 1-7 part and that to be equally divided amongst them. I give to my sd. 7 daughters (the heirs of Abigail decd. looked upon as one) £10 money to each, old tenor. I give to my 7 daughters, in equal proportion, all my land in Deerfield. I appoint my sons Joseph Gillet and Matthew Gillet to be executors.
