Special thanks to Jerry Ramsey and Chuck Demastus for data shared on this family. Most (if not all) of the birth and death dates I have for this family come from Chuck and Jerry.

Joseph H. Dugger was born 17 Apr 1788 probably in Orange Co, NC, though it could also have been Brunswick Co, VA. Joseph is most likely a son of Alexander and Ann Dugger, but I don't know if that connection is proven. Circumstantially it fits very well. I'm not sure what the source is for the "H" middle initial. All the records I've seen for Joseph do not include a middle initial, but it certainly could be correct.

Joseph Dugger apparently moved to Greene Co, TN with his parents ca 1798 or so.

Joseph Dugger was listed on the 1805 Tax list in Greene Co, TN. If his 1788 birth year is correct, then he was only 16 or 17 at that time.

Joseph Dugger might have been listed on the 1810 census, or he may have still been home with his parents, but in either case we'll never know, as the 1810 census is lost for most of Tennessee.

Joseph's apparent brother David Dugger moved to Barren Co, KY between 1805 and 1810 and it seems that Joseph went with him, or joined him later, but before 1810.

Joseph Dugger obtained a marriage bond on 11 Sep 1810 in Barren Co, KY to marry Elizabeth Bailey. Two of Joseph's brothers had also married Bailey women, all probably closely related.

Apparently they didn't remain in KY, but instead moved back to TN, either back to Greene County, or direct to Maury County where they remained. Several of his siblings and his parents also went to Maury Co, TN.

Joseph Dugger was listed on the 1820 census in Maury Co, TN (his father Alexander and his brothers David and Shadrack were also listed).
