From Burgess Genealogy by Ebenezer Burgess, p. 14, Joseph sold property in Sandwich in 1677 and removed to Rochester. The will of "Joseph Burgess of Rochester", dated 5 Aug 1695, probated 7 Oct 1695, mentions "my dear and loving wife Patience Burgess to be my executrix", "my son, Benjamin Burgess", "my daughter Rebecca Ross", "my daughter Dorrity Clifton", "my son Ichabod Burgess", "my trusty and well beloved friends, Captain Seth Pope, Thomas Tapper and Jacob Burgess, all these three, to act as overseers". [Both sons mentioned as under the age of twenty-one.]

    "An Invintory of ye estate of Joseph Burg late of Rochester in the county of Barnestable deceased in August 1695...", undated, sworn to by "Patience Burg vid [vidua is Latin for widow] Relict of Joseph Burg" on 3 Oct 1695. Will of "Joseph Burg of Rochester" was dated 5 Aug 1695.

  4. Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 18:89, "Plymouth Colony Deeds", presents deed from "Thomas Burge seni'r of the Towne of Sandwich" to "his son Joseph Burge" dated 10 Jul 1663. To be of legal age, Joseph would need to be born bef. 10 Jul 1642. On p. 18:248, "Plymouth Colony Wills and Inventories", regarding Robert Rollock's estate, has deposition of "Joseph Burge aged about 30 yeares" which is dated 28 Oct 1669, so born about 1639.
