    CAPT. JOSEPH(2) BOYNTON (John), born about 1645; married 13 May, 1669, Sarah, daughter of Richard Swan. She died in Groton, 27 Feb., 1718-9. He married (2) in Rowley, 11 Mar., 1719-20, Elizabeth Wood. He was captain in Col. Francis Wainwright's First Regiment--Red--in service 1706 and 1707, Port Royal Expedition; town clerk, and representative many years. He and wife, Sarah, son Benoni and wife, Ann, were dismissed from Rowley Church to Groton, 4 Dec. 1715 (Ch. R.). He returned to Rowley before 1720, and died 16 Dec., 1730, aged 85 years (G. S.)

    [According to the transcription provided here, the age at death is "85", which appears correct, but the attached photo is somewhat ambiguous. This source separately suggests a birth date of 13 May 1644. The birth date is clearly not given on the tombstone, so this apparently represents the submitter's personal research. This date is commonly seen on Internet sites, but is not found in the Rowley VRsS2. The coincidental agreement with the day and month of marriage suggests how it was derived.]
