    "Deacon Joseph Arnold, Jr., was born 7 March 1666 in Haddam, Hartford, CT and died 8 Apr 1752 at age 86 in Haddam, Hartford, CT. … Both Joseph and (wife) Susanna are buried in the old Haddam cemetery where their grave markers were still visible in 1951 when Thomas W. Hook was researching the Arnolds of Haddam. … Joseph Arnold was Member Number 4 of the First Congregational Church of Haddam, CT. He was the Third Deacon of the First Church of Haddam as well as Town Clerk and Shipwright. … He was town clerk of Haddam for many years. As early as 1701 he was serving as one of the agents for the proprietors of the undivided lands on the west side of the river in the Town of Haddam. On 14 May 1714, the General Court confirmed him as Ensign of the company or trainband of Haddam."
