!CENSUS: 1910 U.S. Federal Census of Coamo, Puerto Rico shows Segundo as being 73 years old, and having been born in Puerto Rico. The census also states that he was married to his wife, Petrona, for 23 years, and that she had five children, of which one was living. Also, it states that he spoke Spanish and that he was not employed, but was retired. They live on Calle Roman Baldorioty.

!According to Jose Federico Bernier Rodriguez, Jose Segundo was married three times. Also he was an auto mechanic, by profession, and owned an auto mechanic business in Coamo. Also, he was mayor of Coamo for two terms, one in 1885 and one in 1899.

The record states that Segundo was born in Aibonito, and that he was 42 years of age at the time of marriage. Maria's age is given as 26 years of age.

Her parents are recorded as Baldomero Rivera and Marcelina Zambrana. Her age is given as 30 years of age, and the record states that she was born in Juana Diaz, but lived in Coamo. She was a widow and her deceased husband's name was Juan Lopez. Segundo's age is given as 50 years of age and lived in Coamo. Witnesses were Juan Layas, from Coamo, and Genaro Rodriguez, from Juana Diaz. Segundo is shown to be a widower in the record. His first wife's name was Carolina Layas.

!NOTE: Felipe Santiago's marriage to Teresa Bernier was on the same day and in the same church as Teresa's brother, Segundo Bernier's marriage to Maria Carolina Layas.
