To the Hon. Congress of the Republic of Texas
The petition of Johnathan D. Hopkins represents that he enrolled himself as a volunteer in the army of Texas in the spring of 1836, tdhat he was enrolled under the command of Col. Martin Parmer, who was authorized to raise troops by the Provisional Govt. of Texas, and the petitioner further represents that he was placed under Capt. Ratliff then commanding a company and proceeded to the army and served three months, but in consequence of his being detailed to wait on the sick he failed in getting his discharge and craves that your Hon. _____[?] will grant that he receive a discharge for three months and the dues thereon.
