Because of the DAR birth date and pension applications I believe his birth date as 1764, thus his tombstone is in error for birth.
Birth date is from the DAR.
Pension papers, vol 64. W.F.25315 page 50. Applied 07/21/1832. age 68. Resident Ellington, CT. Enlisted April of May 1781 as artillery driver under Capt Wareham Foster. Served 4 months. Stationed White Plains, NY. Joined French army enlisting 09/10/1781 as substitute in CT.

- ↑ Stiles shows this Jonathan (b. 1761) and Alexander (b. 1739) as siblings despite 22-year age difference and few siblings in between. Since senior Jonathan was married twice, perhaps younger Jonathan and Alexander were half-siblings? To further complicate, Cutter shows this Jonathan as being born 1741, which would make him closer in age to Alexander, but virtually impossible to match to the gravestone (d. 1855). Perhaps there is a missing generation between the two Jonathans, e.g. Jonathan (b. c1716) -> Jonathan (b. 1941) -> this Jonathan (b. 1761)?
