Gent.", dated 25 Oct 1821 , names wife Fanny; three eldest sons, namely John, Washington, and Charles; daughter Evalina; daughter Hannah; "my children, viz. Mary Emerson, John, Washington, Charles, Evalina, Hannah, James, Artemas, and Fanny"; daughter Mary wife of Warren Emerson. Cotton Sprague sole exeuctor. Codicil dated 18 Nov 1821.

    12 Feb 1822: John Barrett of Malden, cordwainer, named administrator with will annexed, the said Cotten Sprague having declined that trust.

    12 Feb 1822: "Personally appeared Charles Barrett, a minor above the age of fourteen years, son of Jonathan Barrett, late of Malden in the County gentleman, deceased & made choice of Aaron Vinton of s'd Malden, yeoman, to be his guardian." Bond the same date.
    12 Feb 1822: "Personally appeared George Washington Barrett a minor above the age of fourteen years son of Jonathan Barrett late of Malden in Midd. County gentleman deceased, & made choice of Benjamin Lynde of said Malden, gentleman to be his guardian." Bond the same date.
    12 Feb 1822: Memorial of Warren Emerson of Malden, cordwainer "that Hannah Barrett is a minor under the age of fourteen years & child of Jonathan Barrett late of Malden aforesaid, Gentleman, dec'd, testate, that it is necessary a guardian should be appointed to said minor; that the mother of said minor has requested that your petitioner be appointed to that office." Bond dated the same date.
    12 Feb 1822: Memorial of Benjamin Lynd of Malden that "Eveline, James Munroe, Artemas Madison & Fanny Barrett, are minors under the age of fourteen years, & children of Jonathan Barrett late of said Malden ... that a guardian should be appointed for said minors; that the mother of said minors has requested that your petitioner be appointed".     6 Mar 1832: Personally appears James Barrett a minor above the age of 14 years, son of Jonathan Barrett late of Malden in said County, gentleman, & made choice of James Green of said Malden yeoman to be his guardian.
    25 Mar 1832: "Fanny Barrett of Malden .. Widow of Jon'a Barrett .. hereby request that James Green of said Malden may be appointed Guardian of Atrtemas Barrett, and Fanny Barrett, minor children of said Jonathan Barrett deceased and each under fourteen years of age."
