John succeeded his father Thomas in 1634 as owner of the Shiplake estate, living in 1681, and probably b. 1688. "The strong presumption" is that he is an older brother of the Wilder children who went to New England.
↑ The cited AFN 785F-JT says John Wilder, b. 1616 Shiplake, England, d. 20 Apr 1852 [!!!] Hingham, Mass. I do not find the death of a John Wilder in the vital records of Hingham in either 1652 or 1852, and cannot imagine what this source intended to say? I haven't seen any other sources that indicate that John even came to New England.
