He and his wife were disowned by the Quakers in a monthly due to his approval of his daughter's (Elizabeth) marriage to George Beeler in their home. They also complained of him for drinking. At his death in the 1770's he left a son William and wife Ann. Audie Vestal Hamilton in her biography of John's father William she lists his birth as 1718 and that he was the oldest child.
