In thurs Mar 6 1845 newspaper (Elmira Gazette or the Elmira Repulbican): "On the morning of 27 Feb at his residence in the town of erin, col John tuthill, aged 84 years 11 months, 25 days. He was born in Blooming Grove Orange Co., Mar 4 1760. He emigrated to this county in May 1819. and was highly respected amongh his friends and neighbors. He represented Orange Co in the Legislature of the state, an honest and upright man; he will long be remembered by those who knew him."
