Contrary to information published elsewhere, he was not the son of John and Elizabeth Taylor of Isle of Wight and Lancaster Counties, as a probate record indicates that the only child of John and Elizabeth Taylor who lived beyond 1669 was their daughter Elizabeth.[3]
