[edit] Information on John SmithThe First Smith to ever buy land on Goose Creek of Roanoke was a man called John Smith. He bought a tract of land containing 400 Acres lying and being in the County of Floyd (then Augusta) on a Branch of the Roanoke called Goose Creek, on August 16th 1756. The Roanoke itself was called Goose Creek but this Specifically says a Branch of the Roanoke called Goose Creek. Note that it is in Augusta County. There is more than one Goose Creek. But only one resides in Augusta County in 1756 as a Branch of the Roanoke. Today it is Floyd County Virginia.
