    On 7 September 1867, a deed in Ballard Co., (DB B, p. 239-40) lists the following as heirs of JOHN RUDD: John C. BYASSEE, W. H. BYASSEE, Joseph Payne and wife Martha, Rhoda BURNETT, William Morgan and his wife Polly Ann, C. ?. ATHERTON and his wife Nancy, William R REEVES and his wife Susan, and Samuel RUDD. These heirs sold to Gartheau ATHERTON, for the sum of $500.00, 53-3/4 acres of land. This was land on which John RUDD, dec'd., lived on at the time of his death and had been conveyed to John by Samuel RUDD (the deed between John and Samuel was on record in Ballard Co. in DB E, p. 371-72 - that deed book was lost to the court house fire in 1880).
