I believe that John Ross Sr., may have died in Greene Co., Tennessee about 1785. There is a John Ross on a very early tax list for Greene County (1783 and 1797)). There is no probate in that county.

I'm a descendant of John Ross' daughter Elizabeth who married Edward Cathers. They went to Kentucky during the spring of 1779 probably with Thomas Gilles who married Jane Ross. Thomas Gilles brother William died in Kentucky in 1783 and was probably among the group too. The Ross, Cathers and Allison family members served together in Lord Dunmore's War in 1774. Please keep me in the loop if you find anything.

Has anyone found the estate records of John Ross in Botetourt Co., VA? He supposedly died in the 1790s. I have a part of a land suit mentioning the heirs of John Ross, but I have seen no estate settlement records. Thanks for the help.
