    Dea. John Rich... of Eastham, Mass., died there in 1747, his will being proved on 11 Nov. of that year. He married first, at Eastham, 10 Dec 1700, Mary Treat, born 16 Mar 1682, daughter of Rev. Samuel Treat, the minister of the town; and secondly, 2 Aug. 1723, Hope (Howes) Sears, widow, daughter of Samuel Howes of Yarmouth Mass.

    ...was often mderator at town meetings in Eastham, and served on various twon committees, besides being an esteemed deacon in the church.

    In his will, dated in 1743, John Rich referred to silver marked "R.S.R." [Richard and Sarah Rich] and "J.H.R." [John and Hope Rich]. He also mentioned "six pewter platters that were my father's."
