Rev. John Reynor, from Gildersome, par. of Batley, co. York; A. B., Magdalen Coll., Cambridge, 1625; came to Plymouth ab. 1636 and was chosen teacher. Freeman 1637-8. Ab. 1655 he was called to be pastor at Dover and accepted. … His 1st w. was a Boyce, one of the co-heiresses of her br. He m. 2d Frances Clarke who had been a serv. in the ho. of Rev. John Wilson of Boston and was dism. to Plym. Ch. in 1642. He d. 21 Apr. 1669, and his will, made two days bef. his death, was prob. 30 June 1669. It made very careful provision for his w. and her ch. and stated that his ch. by his 1st w. had already been taken care of. They did not agree, however, and in 1678 Jachin Reynor and his br.-in-law Job Lane entered petitions stating that Boyce prop., entailed on Jachin as heir male, and prop. coming to them by will from the Boyces thru the death of their mo., had been enjoyed by their fa. until his death and was now withheld from them. Quite modestly they asked merely to share with their fa.'s second fam. Ch. by 1st w: Jachin (Joachim?), Rowley by 1651, m. 12 Nov. 1662 Elizabeth Dennison of Charlestown. Will 1708. 6 ch. Hannah, m. Sept. 1660 Job Lane of Malden. By 2d w: Rev. John, H. C. 1663, preached at Mendon ab. 1669 and later studied with and assisted his fa., being ordained 12 July 1671; m. Judith Quincy, dau. of Edmund Q. of Braintree (his mo., Mrs. Reynor, called Mr. Quincy -brother-, a relationship sometimes assumed by persons whose children had married); d. at Braintree 21 Dec. 1676, ag. 33. Adm. (c.t.a.?) gr. to his mo. 31 Oct. 1677, the exec. having declined to serve, Lt. Peter Coffin being assoc. with her as adm. 1 Apr. 1680. Elizabeth, d. unm. Dorothy, m. Capt. Job Alcock and d. s.p. Abigail, m. 1st John Broughton, m. 2d Thomas Kendall of Woburn. Her ch. and those of her sis. Judith were the eventual heirs of her fa., br., and sis. Mrs. Alcock. Judith, wit. will of Henry Tibbetts, prob. 1676; m. 1st Rev. Jabez Fox, m. 2d Col. Jonathan Tyng. She, or ano. of the sisters, may have been the dau. b. 26 Dec. 1647. Joseph, b. 15 Aug. 1650, d. 3 Nov. 1652.

… Rev. John Reynor (also spelled Rayner, Raynor and Reyner). He was b. at Gildersome in the parish of Batley, co. York, about 1605, and was educated at Magdalen College, Cambridge (B.A. 1625). The Rev. John and Anna (Boyse) Reynor migrated to New England about 1635-6, and settled at Plymouth. Mr. Reynor was the teacher at Plymouth, 1636-1655. He became a freeman in 1637-8. He was called by the Church at Dover. N. H., to become its pastor in 1655, and retained this position until his death, at Dover, 21 April 1669. Anna (Boyse) Reynor d. at Plymouth before 1642, when Mr. Reynor remarried. The Rev. John and Anna (Royse) Reynor had two surviving children. Jachin Reynor (later of Rowley, Mass.), and Anna or Hannah Reynor, who m. in Sept. 1660 Job Lane of Maiden, Mass.

John married first Anna Boyce, daughter of John and Joanna (Stowe) Boyse (or Boyce) on August 12, 1633 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England. together two children were born to John and Anna, they are:

Pastor John Reyner, according to SAINTS AND STRANGERS, was born c. 1605 at Gildersome, Yorkshire, England (about 35 miles from Scrooby, Eng.) Pastor Reyner and his daughter [prob. sister], Elizabeth, arrived in Boston on the ship "James" c. 1635.
He was pastor for the Plymouth church from 1636 until 1654. Pastor John resigned because of doctrinal disputes in 1654. He removed to Dover, New Hampshire, where he died in 1669.
Pastor John's daughter [sister] Elizabeth, at Plymouth, in 1637 [1641], married Thomas Southworth (son of Edward and Alice Carpenter-Southworth), who had been raised in Holland before joining Alice (who had since married Gov. William Bradford). Elizabeth had one child (no name known) only.
Pastor Reyner, teacher of the Dover Church died 21 Feb [April] 1669. He made his will 19 April 1669 and probated on June 30. He bequeathed to his wife - John, Elizabeth, Dorothie, Abigail and Judith; to son Jackim of Rowly and dau Hannah, wife of Job Lane of Billerica "A cup I had with her mother." (Samuel Richardson and Josiah Ellsworth, (page 193).
