  • cos1776 Note: if the 1800 Will Records can be verified, it would mean that the John Ransdell who was dismissed from the Baptist Church in Feb 1826 is NOT the same individual.

In November 1778, he supported the Revolution by providing a gun to the Fauquier County Minute Men. After the Revolution, he moved with his family to Kentucky while it was still part of Virginia. In 1784, he was at Bryan's Station at Lexington in Fayette County. He died in early 1800 in Fayette County, Kentucky. A fragment of his will was copied after the Fayette County Courthouse burned in 1803. It was written at least six months prior to the date of probate in Jun 1800. He left all of his estate, both real and personal, to his wife, Elizabeth RANSDELL, during her natural life or widowhood. If she "should" marry, she "should" have one third so long as she lives. As children come of age, they are to receive a feather bed and furniture. Something along the burned edge of the document that cannot be clearly determined, having to do with Elizabeth RANSDELL and the youngest children named, and what appears to have been "the age fifteen". This may have dealt with the amount of education the children were to receive.

[cos1776 Note: it has been said that the witness Bradford was Mary (Chinn) Bradford. Proof is needed.]
