    Sometime after his wife Sarah died in 1709 he married Mary, widow of Josiah Howe. 24 Nov 1714 deeded portion of his estate to his son. "The registry indicates that he was living in 1723."
    [Note: this source exhibits some confusion, since the following deed is attributed to John 3d on p. 70, but clearly belongs to John 2nd, and is the evidence showing father was alive in 1723, but it was the son, not the ailing father, that continue to live for more than a quarter of a century.]
