Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:

• Page 849.--10th July, 1750. Henry Kirkham and Margaret to Jolm (sic, s/b John) Paxton, lots of Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania; Benj. Borden; on James River; on Wood's Creek; corner Joseph Lapsley; 198 A, 3 R, 36 P, conveyed to Henry by Borden, 27th July, 1742. Teste: Richard Woods, Jno. McKey.

Classification: Query Surnames: In Rockbridge Co., twins Sarah & Mary Isabella Paxton were daughters of Joseph Paxton and Esther Lyle. Their grandmother was Isabella Paxton married to John Lyle. There seems to be many Isabella's in the family. John Lyle d. 1793. m#1 1760 Isabella Paxton, d/o John & Mary (Blair). members of this family are buried in the Muse Cemetary near Timber Ridge. Info. from "The Timber Ridge Presbyterian Cemetery". Book bought last year from this church.
