Records in Augusta County, VA

From Chalkley’s Augusta County Records:

  • Vol. 2 - Marriage Bond - 1797--November 11, John McCutchen and Wm. Patrick, surety. John McCutchen and Isabella Patrick, of age, daughter of John Patrick, sister to Wm. Patrick.

Notes

Note: John McCutcheon is placed as a probable son of Samuel McCutcheon and Rebecca Downey. Since another one of John's brothers, Samuel married a sister of Isbella Patrick, combined with the naming of John McCutcheon's children (Patrick McCutcheon, John Patrick McCutcheon, James Downey McCutcheon), and John's birthdate fits as a son of Samuel, all appear to provide circumstantial evidence of his being Samuel and Rebecca's son.
