Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:

• John McCullough acquired (date unknown) a 414-acre tract in Beverley Manor from John Finley, as listed in the record "Richard Pilson to Jno. Williams", below. This tract was originally patented to Charles Dalhouse and was located next to Robert Patrick, as shown on the map above.

• Page 422.--21st February, 1777. James Brownlow and Katherine ( ) to John McCullock. Teste: William Walker, Samuel Wier, Alexander Tedford.

• Will - John McCullock, Feb. 1, 1791, Wife Mary, £50; to my six grandchildren, children of my son, Thomas, deceased, £12; the home plantation, containing 367 acres, to my son Robert; to my son Robert's son, Thomas, my watch; son Robert, executor. Test: Rodes and John Ballard. April Court, 1795. [Albemarle County Will Book 3, pg. 243]

Robert Patrick's will--Sons, Charles and John Patrick; son John's son, Robert; daughter, Martha Black, and her 8 sons, Robt. and John; daughter, Isabell McCulloch, and her daughter, Rachel; wife, Rachel. Executors, sons Charles and John. Guardian, wife Rachel. Teste: James Wharey, John McCulloch. Proved, 17th November, 1761, by the witnesses. Charles Patrick refuses to execute. Jno. Patrick qualifies, with Jno. McFeeters, Wm. McFeeters. (Note: John McCullough's son Thomas married Robert Patrick's daughter, Isabella).

• Vol. 1 - MAY, 1763 (B). - Thompson vs. Cunningham.--John McCullogh, Hampshire County. Deposition and signature.

• Vol. 2 - SEPTEMBER, 1802 (N to Z). - Ditto--Richard Pilson to Jno. Williams, recorded March 20th, 1764. Depn. John Dolass (Dolhouse), 1802; deposes he is about 52 years and son of Charles Dolass, to whom Wm. Beverley conveyed 414 acres originally run out for John Finley and sold by Finley to John McCullogh. Depn. Saml. Pilson, aged 62, between 40 and 50 years ago. Depn. John Hamilton, aged about 72 years. (Note: the land mentioned in this record was the 414-acre tract patented to Charles Dalhouse in the northeastern portion of Beverley Manor, next to where Robert Patrick lived).

POSTED 5-6-97 I am Looking For: descendants of John McCulloch/McColloch of Beverley Manor, VA. They lived on John Finley's Quarter, and were members of the Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Meetinghouse.
