Advisory on John McCroskey, Jr.

There are some sites on the internet claiming that John McCroskey, Jr. married Grizzelda Poage, daughter of John Poage and Jane Boggs. This information is in error. Grizzelda Poage married David McCroskey, a brother of this John McCroskey.

Note that the 284-acre tract acquired by John McCroskey, Jr. is not shown on the Hildebrand Map, however from the Chalkley's record below, we do know that it was located adjacent to the tract of James Glascow. Map above shows the two probable locations of John McCroskey's 284-acre tract. Note that the tracts acquired by John McCroskey, Sr. (John's father) and Alexander McCroskey (John's brother) are located nearby to the northwest.
