- Page (863) 857.--Same (From Benjamin Borden, Jr.) to John Marshell, on Catuba Creek, 259 acres of 3,553; patented to Benj. Lee, 9th March, 1740
- Page (869) 863.--28th August, 1750. Same (From Benjamin Borden, Jr.) to John Marshell, on Catuba Creek. 19 acres, part of 2,880 acres on Catuba; patented to Benj. Sr., 9th March, 1740.
- Page 239.--28th May, 1781. Thomas Hadley to John Marshel, 184 acres, on Catuba Creek of James River; Borden's tract, top of Mount Hadley. Teste: James Alexander, Robt. Grey.

- Page 176.--13th August, 1759. John Marshall, of Orange County, North Carolina, to Wm. Preston, £50, 203 acres in two surveys on Catawba Creek of James River; corner Burden's patent line, top of Mount Hadley. Teste: Jno. Hughes. (Note: this shows that John Marshall had migrated to Orange County, North Carolina prior to this date).
- Page 334.--20th May, 1763. John Marshall, of Orange County, North Carolina, to Israel Christian, £20, 259 acres on Catawbo Creek of James River. Teste: George Robinson, Francis and Anne Smith. Proved by Francis and Anne, George being dead.
