From the June 11, 1930, edition of the New Hampton (Ia.) Tribune Bassett Man Died In St. Joseph's Hospital May 27 John Marovets of Bassett died Tuesday, May 27, at New Hampton in St. Joseph's Hospital, aged 44 years, 11 months, and 23 days, after an illness of about three weeks. His death being caused by a heart failure which was caused by a stroke of paralysis. He was born May 29, 1884, on a farm near Monona his parents were Anton Marovets and Rosa Havlicek who preceded him in death. On January 9, 1912, he was united in marriage to Miss Katheryn Lestina of Monona to them were born eight children, four dying in infancy, namely: Irene, Grace, Ralph and John Jr. Those remaining to mourn the loss of husband and father are his wife and children, Helen, Leonard, Leo and Anna Mae, all still living at home. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers, Simon Marovets of Minneapolis, Anton Marovets of near Monona, Anna Lechiner of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Mary, Mrs. Guy Waolk of Monona, and may other relatives and friends. As an occupation he chose railroad work. He was in railroad service for nearly 25 years till last November, his health failed him, so he resigned and went farming. Mr. Marovets joined the Catholic church in 1911 and from then on has been a prominent member in the Church. The funeral services were held May 30 at St. Patricks Church at Monona, Rev. C.R.
