(From Foreword): Much of what follows is based on the work of Nathan Gillett Pond (1832-1894), who sorted out the families by studying land, probate and church records; historian Nathan Stowe (1844-1935), who added more information; and George Clarke Bryant of Ansonia (1873-1947), who accumulated still more information while researching the Clark(e) family. [Susan W. Abbott did additional research of vital, land, probate, church and private records.]
