Facts and Events
John Lewis named his wife Ann in his will. Based on the will of John Lanphere, dated 31 Mar 1730, in which he names a daughter, Anna Lewis, the wife of John Lewis is sometimes said to be Ann(a) Lanphere. John Lanphere's will was proved in Westerly, RI, 30 May 1757. But the age discrepancy casts doubt on this identification. Anna (Lanphere) Lewis's grandfather, lived contemporaneously with John Lewis. Stated another way, John Lewis was about the same age as Anna (Lanphere) Lewis' grandfather. Anna Lewis of Westerly, widow of John, made her will 25 July 1739. It was proved in Westerly, 29 Feb 1747/8.
