This article in the Staunton Spectator July 1873 says, "His [James Leslie's] son was in the Revolution--married a Miss Thompson, and died in Wytheville 34 years ago, leaving a large family."

But this later article August 1878 says, "John, who married a Miss Henderson of Augusta, settled near Abingdon before the Revolutionary war. His sons, remarkable for their gigantic size and fine appearance, emigrated very early to Missouri."
