John and Peter received the 300 acre tract gotten by Isaac for their father, Abraham LeFevre. They divided the tract equally between them, John having the southern half adjoining Strasburg borough, and Peter having the northern half. George Newton LeFevre, the compiler of this record, a great-grandson of John, was in 1918 the owner of 150 acres, the southern half of this tract, on which he lived from 1880 till his death. He had the Patent for this tract from William Penn with his great seal in wax, four inches in diameter and 3/8 of an inch thick. On this Patent, Isaac LeFevre wrote and signed a transfer of it to his two grandsons, John and Peter. In the body of the transfer and in his signature the LeFevre name is written correctly as here given, but in the Old French form. In the Old French a capital letter was made by doubling the small letter, thus a capital A was written "aa"; a capital E was "ee", and a capital F was written "ff." As time went on some began to drop the one "f" and write it LeFevre. Then pronouncing it wrong, they began to write it Lefever. Many LeFevres thus got to writing the name wrong and it has been written in six different ways, but in the early legal documents the name is found written in its correct form. It was the original compiler's request that all names in this record be spelled correctly, LeFevre.

His will names children: George, and Elizabeth wife of John Shultz. Grandchildren: Daniel, John and George Lefever (parent's names not given) and Elizabeth and John Keeports.

Comment 2 January 2005. The three grandchildren noted above are the children of his son, John Lefever and wife Barbara/Elizabeth Howry.
