    Children of Richard Knowles and Ruth Bowers: 1) John, b. Plymouth, killed by Indians near Taunton 3 Jun 1675, m. Eastham 28 Dec 1670 Apphia Bangs. Inventory dated 8 Mar 1676. Speculates may have been a minor when tried in court 3 Mar 1662/63, i.e., born after 1644.
    [An attack by Indians June 1675 burned the house of James Walker and John Tisdell, killing the latter, plus two soldiers from Eastham on duty there, John Knowles and Samuel Atkins. Three Indians were tried 6 Mar 1676/77, and sold into slavery as "prisoners of war".]
