24 Jun 1997, received 1984 Park County History sketch of William Walter Kinnick with extensive family detail. John Porfirio as fifth child. "John and wife Earlene live there also (Clarkston, Washington)."
Telecon John and Earlene from Clarkston, 23 Jul 1997: Been married 57 years, he is 81. Older sister Rachel, age 87, getting remarried. Said Bill and Lupe also born in San Antonia, TX, not Mexico. Father, William, swapped Laurel property for 200 head of sheep and a section of land near St. Louis. Lost it all in 6 months. Took lambs to sell in St. Louis, had to wait 10 days, storage more than profit. Bailed out by Sister Maggie, went to work on her ranch in Park Co, MT, to pay her back. Said he was about 17 when parents broke up (1933?), Dad gave sawmill to Bill. John said he was leaving. Did. Brothers ran sawmill business for 50 years. Bill took sawmill to CA to cut eucaplytus trees. Turned out they were soft, not hard. Curled up as soon as cut. Dorothy does genealogy, been to Salt Lake City.
