Early Land Acquisition in Rockbridge County, VA

Acquisition of Land:


  • 2 Mar 1779 - Between Thomas Kilpatrick to John Kilpatrick for 18 shillings a parcel of land containing 150 acres & is part of Benjamin Borden large tract of 92106 acres, granted to Thomas Kilpatrick beginning at an Elm on a branch of Kerrs Creek. Land joins John Wiley, Thomas Kilpatrick and Henry Skeen. Witnessed by James McDowell, Robert & John McElheney. Delivered to Thos Kilpatrick, son of said Jno who is said to be eldest son & heir at Law. [Rockbridge County Deed Book A p 99-100]
