1843 “Charlotte County … Rich Indeed; A History of Prehistoric Times Through the Civil War,” Charlotte County Board of Supervisors, 1979, Charlotte County, VA,”Freed Negroes (taken from the “Book of Registers of Free Negroes and Mulattoes” which is filed int he Clerk’s Office),” p. 493, ln 201, has the following listing of interest: “John Jackson, son of Berry Jackson & Betsey, his wife, both free persons, [complexion not stated], age 28, born free, date registered 14 Dec 1843.” Not sure if this is the same John Jackson, but it deserves much more research. There are several other Jacksons on this list.
