Quote from the source document:
"Local historians report the existence of a book apparently owned by a John Jackson who may have been progenitor of the well-known Fairfax county family. According to those who have examined this book, it bears the inscription, "John Jackson, his book...bought in Liverpool in the year 1721, for 1 shilling, 6 pence. I was married to my wife the first day of September 1720 and she departed this life the 30th of March 1733. I lived a married life 12 years 6 months and seventy-nine days." The book further notes: "James Jackson was son of John Jackson, born 20 (or 23) of June 1723; Mary Jackson was born 13 May 1727; Cornelius Jackson was born on the 13th day of September 1730." Initial investigation in Liverpool, have failed to define a John Jackson native to that area."

The above three children (James, Mary and Carnelius) have been included among the children of John Jackson and an unknown first wife (who died in 1733) even though they are not mentioned in his 1778 will. Perhaps they were taken care of separately or perhaps the book tells of a different John. Note though that the first of John's proven children, John Jr., was born Nov 1737, after the implied first wife died in March 1733. It could be assumed that John, having small motherless children at home, remarried shortly after the first wife died.
