Notes provided by Marda Godsey:

"From census information, it is identified that John S. Jackson, son of John S. and Dorothy Ann {Wilkins} Jackson, was born about 1845 listed again with his parents in 1860 Delaware County OH. From DelawareCounty, OH Probate Records, it is identified that his father died in1876 and son John S. Jackson is listed as living at that time in Montgomery County, Iowa.

"Looking at 1880 census records for Montgomery County, Iowa there is only one Jackson: J. S. Jackson, born about 1846 VA. He is farmer living with wife "Harret" 31 from OHIO, son John E. 14 from OHIO, son Salathiel 12 OH, son William 7 Iowa, son Henry 7 Iowa, daughter Mary E. 3 Iowa. Giving this as frame of reference for time frame that he moved to Iowa from Ohio, it is estimated that he may have been in Iowa between 1870-1873. Checking Montgomery County, IA census for 1870, there is entry for Red Oak Junction, Sherman Township: John Jackson,23 (about 1847) VA, Harriet A. 22 OH, Elmer 4 OH, Lafayette 2 OH: speculating that Elmer is the same as John E and Lafayette may be misspelling or middle name for Salathiel because of ages.

"Checking 1900 census for Nancy Co, NB, in Timber Creek there is listing: John S. Jackson, Mar 1845 VA; Harriet A., Nov 1849 OH, 7-5 children, married 35 years; Earl C., son, Sept 1882 Iowa. There is also in same township an Elmer Jackson, July 1866 OH VA OH, Samantha Jun 1875 IN IN IN, 1-1, married 4; daughter Lora E Jan 1900 NB. There is in "Lampferry", Nance Co., Nebraska a (per Ancestry transcription)"Sitala" Jackson February 1868 OH VA OH with wife Anna May 1876 IA 2-2 children married 5years, daughter Anna May 1897 Nebraska, son HowardMay 1899 Nebraska. In 1920 Loup Ferry, Nance County, NE there is: S.Jackson 52 OH VA OH; Ruth 42 NY NJ NY; Howard 29 NE OH IA; stepdaughter Myrtle 20 NE IA NY.

Elmer Jackson 63 OH VA OH, married age age 29; wife Manto age 54 IN, married at age 20; and two wards: Gerald Schendel 12, born in Kalispell, father from Iowa and mother from Kalispell; also Thelma Schendel 11, from -- Montana, father Iowa mother -- Montana

"Nebraska State Gazetteer, Business Directory and Farmers List for1890-91" J.M. Wolfe & Co., Publishers, 1890. NANCE COUNTY FARMERS http://www.rootsweb.com/~nenance/olres/Gazeteer/farmers.html. "NanceCounty, Nebraska was established in 1879 on land acquired from the Pawnee Indians under a treaty moving them to a reservation in Oklahoma. It is located in eastern Nebraska, bounded on the north by Boone county, on the north east by Platte county, on the south by Merrick county, and on the west by Howard & Greeley counties." Description from the 1890 U. P. R. R. Gazetteer: "Fullerton lies near the center of Nance County, of which it is the county seat, at the junction of the Loup and Cedar rivers, on the U. P. Ry., 218 miles due west of Omaha. It has a population of 1,600. The Cedar river is of inestimable value here in affording water power, as its course forms numerous horseshoes of from one to three miles in length. An excellent flouring mill is in operation here, having a daily capacity of 150 barrels of flour and from three to four carloads of feed. It utilizes the water of two turbine wheels of 48 and 60 inches respectively. Its mill race is 200 feet long, emptying back into the river again which has traversed one and a half miles and has a fall of 14 feet. These horseshoes are very numerous here and can be easily put to use. TheCitizens State Bank is a local monetary institution recently incorporated and has a capital of $60,000. It occupies the lower floor of a splendid brick block recently erected of St. Louis pressed brick, costing $20,000. Other improvements consist of handsome residences and several brick blocks. The press is ably represented by the Fullerton Post, democratic, James W. Tanner editor, and the Nance County Journal edited by M. H. Barber. Frank S. Gay is still the popular proprietor of Gays hotel and is deserving of patronage. The churches are M. E., Presbyterian and Baptist, the two former having splendid edifices."
